Human-Centered Design for Social Innovation with IDEO.org and +Acumen
+Acumen Chapters is one important part of Acumen‘s work. Is a community of global citizens equipped with the moral leadership needed to meet the complex challenges of our time. Using the Meetup the promote meetings or, as they call it, chapters to develop projects related to Social Innovation. You can create a chapter on you local school, work or house and invite your friends. You can join a chapter that was created in your city. Almost all events are free. They have a global calendar with all current events.
With the main goal of giving a meaningful way to “add Acumen” to people’s life they also crated free online leadership courses as a “new way to dig deeper into Acumen’s work and develop your own toolkit for change”. The courses are developed by Acumen and some partners. They currently has four courses open for applications. “Lean for Social Impact,” “Storytelling for Change”, “Acumen Leadership Essentials” and “Human-Centered Design for Social Innovation”, this last being done in partnership with IDEO.org
If you like Innovation, Service Design and Design Thinking surely already know IDEO and know that this is a great opportunity to learn from the best design thinkers. Human-Centered Design for Social Innovation is a five-week course that will introduce you to the concepts of human-centered design and help you use the design process to create innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions for social change.
You will work through the course with a group of 2-6 people we will refer to as your “design team”. You must find your team before you sign up for the course. And as we said before, you can create your group or join an existing one.
